My latest obsession

I have recently been a bit obsessed with the practice of junk journalling.

Junk jouraling! I love it so far.

Its been around a few years and seems to have taken over a bit from from the scrapbooking of yore, but the thing I like about it is you use up all your stuff that is lying around. You can use all your rubbishy bits and pieces of paper and things.

I like the tutorials of a lady called Leah with a channel called Thrifty Day, and I've had a go at it and I kind of really like doing it. Sometimes I feel a bit out of sorts (I blame hormones... or perhaps it is, rather, the lack of them!) and so I decide to cut stuff up and stick it on a page and I feel better. Therapeutic! I also think that because it is play and there are no rules and you can be as messy as you like, and start again if the page looks like utter rubbish, well, it is just so good for you. It's like being a kid and let's face it... we got to do all the cool stuff when we were kids. Why not , now we're adults?

I confess, though, that when I first saw it, I was flabbergasted and thought it was just madness. I stared aghast at these books people had filled to the gunnels with bits of, really, rubbish. Rubbish! I can't even recall how I came across it, but I watched a whole tutorial and it seemed to me it was just one more avenue for those folk with hoarding tendencies to hoard and to hoard junk that you would throw out. Not to mention it is one more avenue for spending money because you can buy papers and craft stuff and stickers and card paper and washi tape and all the stuff (which maybe defeats the purpose of junk journalling since you're meant to use your junk mail and stuff.) But I found myself hooked by it, and all these thick, bulky books filled with paper and bits that really is all about happy pages. Good times. Colour and patterns and curating your own tastes, that makes you feel happy!

There are heaps of other junk journal sites out there and I've looked at a few. The hobby suits someone like me, really and I'll start posting some of my junk journal things in the future... maybe on my Facebook page.

I think I have just found out what to do with all those old cards I've kept. I can junk journal them!!
