Reads

Some reads of late:

I Haven't Been Entirely Honest with You, by Miranda Hart. I loved the Miranda TV show, I have watched it so many times, and this autobiography (about her horrible, unbelievably awful health issues) is interesting and filled with insights. I'm listening to it on audio book. There are a lot of  discoveries she has made along the way, that she calls 'treasures' about negative voices and positive thinking, too. My father used to say "mind over matter" and he was right, Miranda!

An old Jenny Colgan from the library, Working Wonders, a funny read. Reminds me very much of my years working in local government! I love novels which have workplaces one can relate to.

A comment: One thing that is a bit sad, but a sign of the times, is that you really can't walk into a book shop and buy a Mills and Boon romance any more. None of the book stores stock them (except perhaps a few romance book stores) and even the general dept type chain stores don't sell them anymore, at least, not where I live. I remember when the supermarkets would have displays of them, along with the magazines, so you could buy a book to read when you got home from the shop (which tended to be a big shop because the supermarkets weren't open all the time). In fact, in my 20s, that is how I came upon the romance novels after not having read them since my early teens. Just a comment, and nothing to do with horses, if you were wondering: I was searching my photos and found this genuine, non-A1, personally-taken photo, of a horse on a real live farm. He/She is  just lovely.
